Nana Akua Addo’s 2022 AMVCAs Dress Was Inspired By The Japanese “GEISHA”

It’s fair to say Nana Akua Addo has been knocking red carpet dressing out of the park. She’s not the one who does things by halves and we devotedly remained on our couches each time there’s a major red carpet event in Nigeria or Ghana just to see what the Ghanaian actress is wearing.

In honor of the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards which took place over the weekend (Saturday, May 14) in Lagos, Nana Akua lived up to her style icon status, showcasing her inimitably cool fashion sense. The actress was wearing a multicolored sleeveless dress with an imprinted Geisha face created by Cary Santiago, a designer from the Philippines. She wore the dress with full face makeup, nude lips, along with smokey eyes.

Sharing the photos on Instagram, Nana revealed her look was inspired by the Japanese Geisha and further explained the meaning of the word to her social media followers.

“A GEISHA,” the post captioned while she posed inside a glass showcase. “Today , I exhibit the ART & CULTURE of JAPAN; THE GEISHA. The Japanese word GEISHA literally means “ART PERSON”. I embody ART in its Fullest, EXPRESSION ELEMENTS, COLORS, BEAUTY, GRACE and DISCIPLINE.”

She continued: “I am so honored to be wearing the JAPANESE GEISHA, an embodiment of WOMANHOOD, UNIQUE BEAUTY, GRACE and MYSTERY.”

This is however not the first time Nana is wearing a dress designed by Cary Santiago. If you keep up with Fashion Police Nigeria, the name does sound familiar. During the 2019 Glitz Style Awards, Nana did not just dress to impress but she scored a page on our stylebook for her stunning masterpiece. The dress was magical, first exhibited during TernoCon 2018 in the Philippines.
