What Celebrities Are Saying About The Recent Killings And Raping

Just when the world is trying to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, there is the killing of African-American George Floyd by a cop in the USA, which has sparked continuous protests across the country with the black community demanding justice.

As if that wasn’t enough, a few days later, a policeman in Nigeria killed a 16-years old girl, Tina, by a stray bullet, and there was another reported case of raping and killing of a 22-years old girl by unknown miscreants and then again, another raping of a 12-year-old Jennifer by 11 men—all in Nigeria.

While the black community continues to demand justice and the end to police brutality over in the US, the past weekend has been awash with sadness in Nigeria, and celebrities are raising their voices for justice to be served for the crime against humanity. Keep scrolling to see what Michelle Obama, Rihanna, Beyonce has to say on George Floyd’s death, as well as Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Edo, Funke Akindele, Chika Ike and the rest of others on the recent raping and killings in Nigeria—because enough is enough!

For the last few days, the magnitude of devastation, anger, sadness I’ve felt has been overwhelming to say the least! Watching my people get murdered and lynched day after day pushed me to a heavy place in my heart! To the point of staying away from socials, just to avoid hearing the blood curdling agony in George Floyd’s voice again, begging over and over for his life!!! The look of enticement, the pure joy and climax on the face of this bigot, murderer, thug, pig, bum, Derek Chauvin, haunts me!! I can’t shake this! I can’t get over an ambulance pulling up to an arrest, a paramedic checking a pulse without removing the very thing that’s hindering it! Is this that fucking normal??? If intentional MURDER is the fit consequence for “drugs” or “resisting arrest”….then what’s the fit consequence for MURDER???! #GeorgeFloyd #AhmaudArbery #BreonnaTaylor

There is nothing that these 3 GIRLS have done to deserve the atrocities that has befallen them. Tina was killed by a policeman whose job was to protect her. She was 16years old Uwa a university student went to a church to read and she was raped and murdered. She was only 22 years old. Jennifer was raped by 11 men. She is just 12 years old. 12 years old for goodness sake! What are we doing wrong that boys and men think that it is ok to continue violating girls and women in this manner? Let me tell you what. We are not punishing the men who commit these atrocities in this country. We are not doing enough to hold RAPISTS accountable. We are not doing enough to check POLICE BRUTALITY. We demand justice for these young girls! Our government and our justice system must respond to these matters PROMPTLY. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

This messed up my entire day, but I am still alive to have that luxury. Women in Nigeria deserve to feel safe, we deserve to walk around at night and not be scared. To not think we are making ourselves targets because of what we wear. We should feel safe in a church of all places for God’s sake!!!! We should feel safe in our homes, with friends and strangers too. We should be comfortable around friends, around strangers. Nobody should feel entitled to another person’s body, nobody should feel entitled to another’s life. Women shouldn’t have to be told to wear hoodies at night, or not visit “friends”, or not wear certain things, or not be alone. Men must know RAPE IS NEVER OKAY! YOU ARE NEVER ENTITLED TO A WOMAN’S BODY! #JusticeForUwa! This should never be just another hashtag.
