The fourth annual fashion event saw Bassett grace the runway in none other than her character Queen Ramonda’s original outfit, rekindling the magic of the beloved franchise.
The 67-year-old actress wowed the audience by donning the same gown she wore as Queen Ramonda during a pivotal United Nations meeting in Geneva in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This time, however, she elevated the fashion experience by elegantly floating down the runway at Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, much to the delight of onlookers who had come to witness the intersection of fashion and cinematic history.
The breathtaking gown was designed by the legendary Ruth E. Carter, known for her exceptional work in bringing African-inspired aesthetics to the big screen. It featured vibrant hues of purple, a colour historically associated with royalty, and was adorned with Wakandan hieroglyphs delicately woven in golden threads. The halter silhouette and sculptural gold collar lent an air of regality to Bassett’s majestic walk.
