Adut Akech just landed a new job, and this time she’s not fronting a major fashion campaign or strutting the runway. Yesterday, June 3, Estée Lauder, the American beauty giant announced that the South Sudanese-Australian model is the new global face of the brand.
Her partnership with the beauty powerhouse will start rolling out in July, where she will front campaigns for Estée Lauder’s prestige beauty products such as skincare, makeup, fragrance, and hair care products. Current Estée Lauder ambassadors include Karlie Kloss, Grace Elizabeth, and Carolyn Murphy.
“Words cannot express how Proud and excited I am to share I’m now a part of the @esteelauder family as their newest #EsteeGlobalAmbassador I DIT IT! 🥺🤍,” the model shared the news on Instagram.
She continued: “All my hard work has led me to moments like this. Long story short, growing up in the western world I didn’t really see a representation of myself in fashion and beauty world on television or magazines until I got into the fashion industry’. To now be the representation in the fashion beauty space I didn’t have a growing up means everything to me. My little sisters will now also see their faces in my beauty Ads and campaign billboards, little back girls in South Sudan, Africa and all around the world will now see themselves in me through the work I will do in this space. I hope you can see though we are more than WORTHY of being faces of the biggest iconic global beauty brands. I do it to break down barriers, to prove we are here, we are unique & beautiful, for the little girls and boys not seen and heard. Just so thankful to God, my family & friends, team and supporters for always keeping me going 🙏🏿❤️❤️❤️.”

The brand also announced the exciting news on Instagram, describing the model as ‘confident, beautiful, and a strong woman.’ This comes just after the makeup company shared the first campaign video of the 21-year-old strutting and looking glammed up in a slip dress.

Aside from her new role, Adut Akech has always love to play around with Estée Lauder’s makeup products after her first discovery of the brand through a Youtube makeup tutorial. “Makeup has always really been fun for me,” she told Vogue.
