Kim Kardashian Makeup “SKKN by Kim” is Finally Here

After a two-year hiatus, Kim Kardashian is back to the makeup scene with her newly launched SKKN by Kim makeup.

The exciting news came after Kim announced on Instagram last week Tuesday her intention to release the new makeup collection based on her fan requests. “Alright guys, so I have been reading the comments on the SKKN account, and so many of you want us to bring colour cosmetics back.”

Fulfilling these wishes, the reality star has unveiled SKKN by Kim Makeup, featuring a curated collection of essential nude lip liners, lipsticks, and an eyeshadow palette inspired by her iconic style.

This move follows the closure of KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance on August 1, 2021, as Kardashian aimed to enhance formulas, packaging, and the overall shopping experience.

Reflecting on this decision, she shared in an interview with PEOPLE that she wanted to consolidate her brands under one umbrella to provide a more convenient and innovative experience for consumers.

“We had KKW Beauty, KKW Fragrance, and then would have done KKW Skin. The customer would have to go to three different sites in order to purchase products with different shipping costs, different manufacturers, and we’d have three different social media accounts,” Kim said in the interview.

“I wanted all of my brands to live under one brand so that it was easier for the consumer. Being able to consolidate with better, newer, and more innovative products for our consumers was the ultimate goal.”

Although KKW Beauty once held a prominent position in the makeup industry, it’s understandable to anticipate that Kim Kardashian might experience some apprehension about relaunching. However, in her interview, Kardashian exhibited a fearless attitude, emphasizing the significance of improving product quality and packaging, all while staying attuned to consumer preferences.

Recognizing her perfectionist tendencies as a hurdle, Kardashian disclosed her commitment to meticulously refining even the minutest details during lab sample testing. As per the 43-year-old mother of four, she’s motivated by insights accumulated over two decades in the makeup industry, and from previous beauty ventures, in which she’d leverage to craft innovative and user-friendly products.

As per the collection, the SKKN by Kim Makeup debuted with a Classic Matte Eyeshadow Palette ($50) and two pout products — 10 shades of the Soft Matte Lip Color ($32) and 15 shades of the Lip Liner ($22) — all reminiscent of KKW Beauty’s beloved lipsticks, available at SKNN website.

The new line unmistakably embodies the reality star’s aesthetic at first glance. The packaging is structured, minimalist, and undeniably chic – giving a reflection of Kim’s penchant for all things ‘greige.’

In another conversation with Bustle, the star highlighted her commitment to authenticity, expressing a preference for neutrals and a reluctance to embrace bold colors like red lips or vibrant eyeshadows.

The Classic Matte Eyeshadow Palette boasts 12 warm and cool neutral shades meticulously curated for defining and sculpting the eyes. With shades reminiscent of Makeup by Mario Master Mattes, it’s no big surprise however, as Mario Dedivanovic is Kim’s MUA.

For lip products, a cornerstone of the Kardashian-Jenner empire, Kim introduces a Lip Liner in 15 shades catering to diverse skin tones. Mauve pinks offer a softer look, while deep browns allow for definition. The buttery texture enables overlining for a temporarily fuller appearance, with a promise of long-wear, easily blendable matte definition.

Complementing the liners are the Soft Matte Lip Colors, described as full-coverage, soft matte lipsticks that meld seamlessly, delivering velvety smooth pigment and a blurred airbrushed finish.

According to the brand, the collection is staying true to SKKN’s ‘skin first’ mantra, offering lipsticks that are designed for lasting comfort and hydration, thanks to ingredients like jojoba oil, avocado oil, and shea butter

However, when it comes to business, Kim isn’t slowing and she’s hellbent on bringing fans all the juices in beauty, skincare, and shapewear through her SKIM brand. She has even recently launched the Skims’ Valentine’s Day lingerie and loungewear, starring Lana Del Rey in the campaign.

“When I launched with the name SKKN  by Kim, I think people thought like, oh, it’s just skincare. But I always knew we were working on all of the products,” Kim told Bustle about her evolving vision.

“I’ll continue to build out product categories under the SKKN brand,” adding that “fragrance is in the works — I want the SKKN BY KIM line to evolve to offer products for anything that benefits the skin, including fragrance.”
