The 2024 Lagos Fashion Week Theme Has Been Revealed
This October, the much-anticipated Heineken Lagos Fashion Week is set to make a grand return, bringing with it a vibrant theme that encapsulates the spirit and vision of African creativity.
From October 23rd to 27th, 2024, fashion enthusiasts and industry leaders will come together under the theme “COMMUNE,” celebrating Africa’s leading talents and showcasing the creativity that defines the continent’s fashion landscape.
The theme COMMUNE is not just a call for unity but a celebration of a shared vision for the future of African fashion.
Over the course of five days, Lagos Fashion Week will highlight the integral role of the entire fashion value chain in driving innovation and sustainability across Africa. This year’s event will serve as a platform to showcase how African designers are pushing boundaries and redefining fashion on their own terms.
In an inspiring move, this season’s campaign has been captured at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History. This choice reinforces Lagos Fashion Week’s commitment to preserving African craftsmanship and heritage while simultaneously igniting creativity among the next generation of fashion designers. The campaign emphasizes the importance of tradition as an influential aspect of contemporary fashion, showcasing how the two can coexist harmoniously.
Lagos Fashion Week 2024 will prominently feature the Green Access finalists — Dimeji Ilori, Garbe, Malité, Oya Abeó, and Revival. These innovators will debut collections that have been meticulously developed over months of mentorship focusing on responsible production and sustainable sourcing practices.
Their participation underscores the importance of eco-consciousness in fashion, aligning with the week’s central theme of COMMUNE and the broader narrative of sustainability within African fashion.
Proudly sponsored by Heineken, Lagos Fashion Week 2024 is also bolstered by the support of Bioderma, Lush, TOMS, Prosper Africa, and Afrexim. Their involvement emphasizes the collaborative nature of this event, highlighting how partnerships can drive the growth and sustainability of the fashion industry across the continent.
