There’s nothing practically impossible and in these times where big wedding ceremonies complete with a large crowd of guests are forbidden, a US-based couple, Jonathan Singletary and Elaine Welteroth were still able to pull off the dreamiest wedding you can imagine.
There was no need for lavish decoration of flowers, fancy chairs or tables, the couple decided it was going to be an outdoor wedding, set out on the street in front of their house. According to Vogue, ‘a whimsical floral arch’ was installed on the couple’s doorsteps to highlight the special occasion while the beautiful trees surrounded the street compensated for a greenery backdrop.
“It was a bountiful explosion of bright, colorful florals that trailed the stair rails,” the bride said. “It was beyond dreamy and elevated the entire visual experience.”
The couple had also sent invitations to neighbors to witness their nuptials from their stoops and 200 family and friends also joined virtually via zoom. And just so you know, Lupita Nyong’o was among the close friends who attended the ceremony. Of course, she maintained the social distance guidelines, keeping it chic in an off-white dress with a white face mask to be on a par with the all-white dress-code.
As the former editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, New York Times best-selling author, and Project Runway judge, Elaine has friends who also wanted her to look special on her big day and one of them made her a custom pair of shoes to wear for the wedding. “They were the one fancy thing on my body when I walked down the aisle,” the bride described.
Although she dusted off her white dress from her closet, borrowed her mom’s veil, and also ended up doing her makeup in the car, Elaine actually stole the show. The husband, however, was also decked out in white, donning a ‘vintage blazer he borrowed from a friend,’ according to Vogue, ‘along with white linen pants with a fresh pair of white sneakers.’
Big congratulations to Jonathan Singletary and Elaine Welteroth.
