Yemi Alade was live and direct in Abidjan with her eccentric style.
On Thursday, October 12, the Nigerian Afro-pop singer brought her maverick sense of style while performing at the official unveiling of the participating countries in the group stage for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Cote d’Ivoire 2023. For the rehearsals of the event, Alade opted for a fabulous street fashion, which consisted of a shimmering sequined denim jacket, baggy denim pants, and a pair of platform sandals in a hue of burnt orange. She finished off the look with white framed sunglasses and cute shoulder-hovering puffballs plucked out from her hairstyle archives.
The “Fake Friends” singer also shared the video from the cocktail on her Instagram, in which she delivered the beautiful rendition of “Akwaba,” the official anthem of the CAF 2023, alongside Magic System — an Ivorian coupé-décalé band from Abidjan, and Egyptian actor and singer, Mohamed Ramadan.
The groups came together to deliver the anthem in front of hundreds of attendees and football stars, including — Yaya Toure, Achraf Hakimi, Didier Drogba, Sadio Mané, Mikel Obi, singer Akon, and many more.
This time around, Yemi knocked our socks off in a vibrant Ankara jumpsuit, featuring a cris cross neckline, corseted waist panel, and a long cape with puffy shoulders. The 34-year-old ensured her glam game was above par with well-pampered full-face makeup, gold earrings, and edgy braided mohawks.
Hosted by Cote d’Ivoire, the 2023 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 13th January to 11th February 2024, and will be played in six stadia across the host country. The host nation Cote d’Ivoire will play their longtime sports rival Nigeria in the opening of the game in Group A, while Egypt and Ghana will clash in Group B, as well as Senegal and Cameroun in Group C.
