Rihanna’s wardrobe is proof that every trend comes back around and very often vintage is best. She’s been rummaging around in the archives of several different designers recently. Chanel, Tom Ford, Todd Oldham, Dior by John Galliano, and now it’s Gucci’s turn in the singer’s spotlight.
She was photographed over the weekend while leaving a dinner party at her favorite restaurant, Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California, serving up a chic monochromatic look featuring a blue velvet button-up shirt — a vintage piece she dugout from Gucci’s fall/winter 1997 runway collection. RiRi paired the look with matching patch-pocket flare denim pants from indie label SPRWMN and slipped into these pointed-toe pumps by her Romanian-Jordanian designer friend, Amina Muaddi.
We’re loving the slouchy minimalist silhouette and long sleeves on the shirt. The one-button style of the shirt gives off some vintage feel and the shimmering blue and black motif? Fabulous!
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old conspicuously missed out from the red carpet at the 2021 Oscar Awards that took place on Sunday night, Although we don’t know why, however, we do know that she showed up for the after-party. And in true Rihanna style, the singer made her entrance in a stylish casual look, donning a Vetements jacket over a t-shirt with a pair of jeans, a Versace scarf, and her white Amina Muaddi sling heels.
Speaking about Rihanna’s recent cravings for vintage pieces, Cherie Balch, the founder of vintage platform Shrimpton Couture, where RiRi stylist, Nini Nguyen, usually purchase the items, applauded the Barbados beauty for her fashion sense.
“She mixes new with vintage effortlessly,” wrote Balch on Instagram, who shared that Dallas-based stylist Nini Nguyen originally pulled the look for RiRi. “I love that she can pull something out of her closet she’s had for ages and make it look fresher then what’s on some of the current runways.”
