Lisa Folawiyo Gets in the Denim-on-Denim Trend in a Refreshingly Modern Twist

When it comes to denim-on-denim dressing, here at Fashion Police Nigeria we can’t get enough of the trend. So you can imagine how much we’re swooning over the Canadian tuxedo look that Lisa Folawiyo is rocking here

Apart from her contemporary, modern, and luxurious take on the Ankara fabric, Lisa Folawiyo is known for her knack for style and she never disappoints. The fashion designer strikes a fine balance between consistency and originality, making her a true style maverick.

In new Instagram photos which she shared a few days ago, Lisa experimented with a double-denim look, reminding us all that the trend is back. Here is she wearing a vintage “Yeezy” denim look comprised of a button-down shirt, high-waist baggy jeans, and a jacket that reminisces the three-piece suit. She added a pair of pointed boots, a clutch bag, and waist-length braids to complete the eclectic and layered look.

“When they go Loewe’, Lisa wrote in the caption. The overall appearance might have lacked a tie, hehe! But it’s impossible to resist the synchronized, monochromatic, cowgirl, Loewe-inspired aesthetic.

By combining various denim colors and textures, the 47-year-old gave a refreshing feel to the conventional denim-on-denim look. And judging from her post, she fashions a denim outfit by taking into account the fit and contour of each piece while incorporating her trademark style and adding vivid textures to give it a truly distinctive and eye-catching appeal.

The trend of wearing double denim is adaptable and ageless, complementing any personal style. There are numerous ways to personalize the timeless trend — whether you go for a coordinated look or a mixed-and-matched look.

Lisa Folawiyo certainly knows how to make you yearn for some of her pieces in your closet with every design, color, and silhouette. With her creative and contemporary styling, the Nigerian fashion designer, who is the founder and the creative director of the eponymous fashion brand: Lisa Folawiyo Studio, has given the denim-on-denim trend a fresh life. Her desire to play around with various washes, textures, and embellishments has resulted in a new and fascinating spin on this time-honored fashion.

In recent years, the denim-on-denim trend has experienced a resurgence in popularity. This is due in part to the current trend for the 90s and 2000s fashion, as well as the ongoing popularity of denim as a versatile and durable fabric. While this trend has been around for a while and has been embraced by celebs and style stars, going by all indications, the denim-on-denim trend is here to stay.
