After a successful Fashion Week in Paris, we went as far scouting what’s trending now; and we noticed the squares were everywhere.
The rise of the chess-inspired look began in Paris Fashion Week, when Raf Simons’ first ready-to-wear show for Dior was staged in a giant white cube built especially for the occasion that featured a series of interconnecting white rooms linked by square windows.
This was followed up with Louis Vuitton’s presentation, where paired-up models in squares-clad ensembles descended down the escalators and stepped onto a giant checkerboard catwalk in white and yellow.[via HelloFashion]
That being said, the nod to the 60’s continues with mod-inspired square shape patterns. Geometric prints are a chic option if you want to make a statement and add some variety to your look. There are a couple of options when it comes to pairing geo-shape patterns.[via Styleblazer]
Go Bold: Pattern on pattern is a more elevated fashion statement, and whilst it can be incredibly chic, it is not for the faint of heart. Mixing prints takes it a step further, and as with any other look in fashion, the key here is balance. Pair a smaller print with a larger similar print, and don’t be afraid to add color. This really depends on how much of a statement you want to make.
Go Minimal: Combining the zeitgeist of both 60’s mod and 90’s minimalism is a safer option to pull of square patterns. You can anchor a solid shirt with square pattern pants, or play up plain bottoms with a square print blazer. Metallic accessories are a great addition to toned down square patterns as well.
