The Real Housewives of Nairobi is coming to our screens soon, and we can’t wait to see what the fashionable cast has in store for us.
East Africa is about to witness a boost in its entertainment scene with the arrival of the Real Housewives franchise in Kenya this February. Starring in this unique series are serial businesswomen, fashion connoisseurs, and thought leaders; Susan Kaittany, Vera Sidika, Sonal Maherali, Minnie Kariuki, and Lisa Christoffersen, navigating their individual opulent lifestyles, relationships, and jobs in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
The Real Housewives of Nairobi, unveiled in September 2022 premieres on Showmax on February 23, with new episodes airing every Thursday. This comes shortly after unveiling The Real Housewives of Abuja, the second installment of the popular franchise to be set in Nigeria, after the Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOLagos).
One thing is common among these five unique selections; their strength of self and fashion appeal is not dismissible. Denise Mwende, Showmax Content Specialist in East Africa affirmed this in an official statement saying, “Each of the ladies has a strong personality and sure identity of themselves. They are hardworking, affluent, influential, and unapologetic women who are not ashamed to live large and live well because they have earned it. They’re also a representation of the diverse communities we have in Kenya.”
Who are the casts of the Real Housewives of Nairobi?
Susan Kaittany
Susan Kaittany is a serial entrepreneur and the proprietor of Polished, a high-end fragrance and skincare store, and Posh Palace Hair Studio and Spa. Susan Kaittany has achieved fame on her own; a lawyer by training who decided against practicing law in favor of a commercial lifestyle. The mother-of-two gave up her job as a lawyer to pursue modeling and travel before starting her own lifestyle and cosmetics business. Apart from that, she’s got the right body, sassiness, and glamour, which is not a big surprise why she’s one of the casts of the Real Housewives of Nairobi.
Vera Sidika
Vera Sidika is a media personality and businesswoman. Married to Kenyan singer Fredrick Kilonzo Mutinda (a.k.a Brown Mauzo), the socialite is an expectant mother-of-one and one of Kenya’s most well-known and talked about celebrities. Sidika is multifaceted, having recently diversified her career beyond acting to include music and her business operations in the spa and herbal tea industries. However, with all the controversies surrounding the Kenya media personality, Sidika is poised to keep the Real Housewives of Nairobi binge-watching the sitcom.
Sonal Maherali
Sonal Maherali is one of Africa’s most popular fashion icons with a good taste for luxury and a unique sense of style that is both daring and refined. The mother-of-four is also a mental health advocate, a YouTuber, and a creative storyteller who has a record number of views on her “closet tour” videos. Maherali is a successful businesswoman and a key player in the upscale market. After discovering her niche through opulent video blogging in 2010, the mother of four launched Simba Maharani, a luxury apparel and footwear company, and now she’s wholeheartedly venturing into entertainment through the Real Housewives of Nairobi franchise.
Minnie Kariuki
Minne Kariuki is a businesswoman and an actress. She is married to former Jaguar boss Charles Muigai, with whom she has two daughters. Kariuki, the youngest of the five Real Housewives of Nairobi, is spunky, feisty, outspoken, and confident in who she is. She is currently a leading lady in the drama series “Single Kiasi” on Showmax Original.
Lisa Christoffersen
With her renowned “Home Gallery” in Nairobi as an operational base, Lisa Christoffersen enjoys a thriving and well-known profession as an interior designer and African art dealer. She is the creator of Lifestyle Nairobi, an artisanal space in Nairobi’s diplomatic hub of Gigiri, which includes an art gallery, restaurants, a spa, organic shops, and fashion firms, as well as Lioness Rally, Kenya’s first women-only rally squad. Her experiences living on the African continent inspired her to self-publish “The Bush Friendly Guide for Girls,” which is regarded as the most thorough living safari guidebook to Kenya. In the coming Real Housewives of Nairobi, Lisa is expected to bring her sassiness and theatrical prowess into the house and we can’t wait to see it.
RHONairobi joins a long list of other popular African adaptations, including Johannesburg, and Lagos, which ranked among the top 10 most-watched shows on Showmax in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa in 2022.
The show is produced by Eugene Mbugua’s D&R Studios (formerly Young Rich Television) and is a part of the “Real Housewives” franchise that NBCUniversal Formats, a subsidiary of Universal International Studios, a unit of Universal Studio Group, has licensed as a format.
