Lekki Wives The Reunion: A Glimpse Into This Dramatic Women Affair

About a decade ago, the binge-worthy series “Lekki Wives” hit our screens. Then, just last year, snippets circulated about a cast reunion, and now it’s official – the “Lekki Wives Reunion” is happening.

Blessing Egbe, the series’ writer, producer, and director, shared the exciting news through a video announcement on her Instagram page. In the post, she wrote, “Are you guys ready for the DRAMA in #LekkiwivesTheReunion? 6 hours of goodness.”

The trailer offers a preview of the upcoming movie, hinting at more than just intense scenes with elements like blackmail and fatal seductions. This additional dose adds to the essence of the original show that aired from 2013 to 2015 and featured renowned actors such as Kiki Omeili (Loveth), Keira Hewatch (Peace), Adaora Ukoh (Miranda), Chinonso Young (Cleopatra), and Katherine Obiang (Uju).

Set somewhere in Lagos, Nigeria, the reunion marks the 10th anniversary of the show, featuring glimpses of vibrant colors, diverse fashion, and an exploration of feminine perspectives. The return of the TV drama “Lekki Wives Reunion” provides a renewed portrayal of the lives of five women in the heart of Lekki, shedding light on the prevalent issues within this high-end neighborhood of Lagos.

Quite significant in the video snippets is the reunion’s presentation, illustrating the contemporary depiction of the personal and career advancements these women have undergone in the last decade. However, amidst all the changes, one constant factor remains— the drama, which has always been the distinctive flavor of “Lekki Wives.”

When Blessing Egbe posted a picture of the old cast on Instagram last year with the caption “#LekkiWivestheReunion is coming,” there was no confirmed production schedule for the sequel then. However, in April 2023, the shoot for the comeback series began and continued for several weeks, featuring some of Nollywood’s best actors, including Rita Dominic, Kiki Omeili, Seun Akindele, Katherine Obiang, and Ghanaian actress and TV host Joselyn Dumas.

What could be different after 10 whole years? Well, there are big changes, especially in the characters and acts. In the video, we see familiar faces like the Ghanaian star who plays Aisha, an affluent and distraught woman dealing with her own problems, and new characters like Rita Dominic playing roles involving blackmail and a gangster lifestyle.

Although there’s no confirmed date for the movie, we can at least feel the drama in the sneak peek which was shared by the award-winning filmmaker on December 25th.

“While we search for the best-broadcast home for the series, here’s a sneak peek. Enjoy!!!,” Egbe posted on the social media.

True to expectations, the talented Blessing Egbe has garnered praise and positive reviews since the teaser was shared on her Instagram page. Both the cast and fans of “Lekki Wives” eagerly await the show. In fact, there’s a renewed interest in the original series as fans want to understand the full story for an easier catch-up at the reunion.

Undoubtedly, this cinematic piece will attract a large audience, especially with the notable stars that Egbe has enlisted to bring life to the new characters she has introduced.
