Viktor & Rolf Fall 2020 Couture Collection Comes With Social Distancing Motifs

We all need to feel safe. Whether pounding through the pavements on a busy street or descending a crowded escalator, safety is undeniably a top priority and this is exactly what Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren had in mind during the creation of their new couture collection.

Known for its over-the-top and avant-garde designs, the French fashion house loves to push the boundaries and the latest offering is no exception. For the Fall 2020 couture collection which brands are showcasing virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the luxury label presented a collection of nine looks comprised of loose-fitting gowns perfect for lounging at home, dressing gowns for the days of luxury engagements uptown, and a set of unimaginable coats.

The slouchy pieces came in midnight blue, pink, and white tone featuring lace-incrusted emojis, heart-shape, and rain cloud motifs which the brand describes as ‘a fitting symbol of the gloom in the air these days.’

The dressing gowns were extraordinary extravagant as well, finished with exaggerated detailing with certain pieces adorned with a heart-shaped symbol. “The heart symbol that shows unity. Illustrating that we all deserve to be loved, regardless of age, color, gender, race, religion, or sexuality,” Viktor & Rolf said in a statement.

As for the coats, the brand seeks to remind clients that fashion and safety are not mutually exclusive as evident in the creations. Cone motifs in different sizes were incorporated into the voluminous a-line creations to ensure you ‘remain in your own safe zone while venturing out into the world.’

We’ve already seen quite a few looks that would work on the red carpet post-pandemic, so Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and who else? It’s time to brace up.
