A great dress really does deserve a copy, at least that’s how Toke Makinwa makes it look. The media gal was pictured yesterday recreating the iconic Versace dress Jennifer Lopez is known for.
While stepping out for the Moët & Chandon Film Gala last night in Lagos, Makinwa captured Jennifer Lopez’s style and personality perfectly. The fashion all-rounder wore a replica of the Versace palm-prints dress, which the singer wore for a surprise runway appearance during Donatella Versace’s spring 2020 show in Milan last September.
The dress was in honor of her iconic 2000 Grammys dress she wore 20 years ago. Although not exactly identical, it featured the same green, palm-printed chiffon and almost a similarly daring cut.
Replicating the dress, however, Toke Makinwa donned the 2020 version, which features daring side cuts, bared cleavage and a gold brooch at the navel. She accessorized the look with matching dangling earrings and money clutch purse, while her pull back ‘do was adorned with green stones.
“The theme for tonight’s event was “Iconic,” Makinwa shared on her social media. “The first thing that popped in my mind was the most talked-about iconic fashion moment the amazing @jlo and @versace created. To celebrate the Nigerian movie industry with a #nightwiththestars event. My team and I thought about recreating that iconic look and I think we nailed it. Thank you @toluballycouture for bringing this to life, I love playing dress-up and my army, my ride n die team is always up for the challenge.”

According to the media gal, she was an embodiment of Jennifer Lopez for the night and it’s nearly impossible to deny it. “I got to be Jenny from the B tonight,” Toke added.
