It is agreed that many of us (if not all) are fun of either try or wear the new clothes immediately after we get them from shops. Well, it turns out that the practise is very harmful to our health.
According to WSJ, you shouldn’t wear any new clothes without washing them first. Donald Belsito, a professor of dermatology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York explained that – despite clothes “looking clean,” most synthetic textiles are colored with dyes, which can cause severe skin reaction.
He further pointed out that – until much of the dye is rinsed out—usually in more than one washing—some wearers might notice red, itchy, scaly rashes, “especially near the areas where there is friction or sweating, like the waist, neck and thighs and around the armpits,”
To Dr. Donald, the worst culprits of clothing comes from the stores. He said – “I have seen cases of lice that were possibly transmitted from trying on in the store, and there are certain infectious diseases that can be passed on through clothing”. To this issues, Dr. Donald recommends washing your new clothes at least once before wearing.
