Sheer and Naked Dresses Ruled The Runway at Saint Laurent Paris Fashion Week Show

In the world of high fashion, trends come and go, but one thing remains constant: designers pushing the boundaries and daring to create something new, bold, and controversial. This year at the Saint Laurent Paris Fashion Week show, that something was sheer and naked dresses.

Anthony Vaccarello, the creative director of Saint Laurent, embarked on a mission to base an entire collection on sheer dresses. But not just any sheer dresses – he decided to use the same material as tights, adding an element of intrigue and sensuality to the garments.

Vaccarello had already showcased his ability to create singular silhouettes and capture specific moods in his previous collections. This time, he took it a step further by literally baring it all.

The runway show was an extravagant affair, set against the iconic backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. The ambiance was impossibly chic, with deep-sunk black leather couches surrounding a gargantuan circular room. Green velvet curtains draped the space, creating an aura of luxury and opulence. The concrete floor, glistening with a wet sheen, added a touch of edginess to the overall aesthetic.

The first look of the collection immediately set the tone for what was to come. A pair of tights with a waistband acted as both a bandeau top and a skirt hemline, showcasing Vaccarello’s skill at transforming everyday items into high fashion statements.

The ensemble was accessorized with lucite bangles and earrings, a marabou jacket used as a clutch, and a hosiery cap, which happened to be another emerging trend this fashion week. No bad hair days here, it seemed.

Throughout the show, Vaccarello stuck to a specific formula. The models strutted down the runway in tops that were enveloped by wrapped tank or blouse designs, paired with pencil skirts. These ensembles showcased the sheer and naked dresses in all their glory, leaving little to the imagination.

The choice of colors further emphasized the delicacy and sensuality of the garments. From tan to hunter green, iris to midnight blue, maroon to heather grey, nude to light nude – the entire spectrum was explored, all done in sheer.
