When it comes to dark skin models catwalking for the high street fashion brands, the rate of survival is always very slim. This is not based on competency metrics but mere discrimination based on skin color by makeup artist being unable to work with darker skin.
Well, thankfully we’re in the era of positive change as a 19-year-old Nigerian male model is breaking new grounds with his modeling career.
Victor Ndigwe is a Nigerian-born model and a student of the University of Benin, Edo State. After winning the male category of Elite Model Look Nigeria 2014, he never knew that was the beginning of his modeling stardom. As reported, Victor made his fashion week debut in Milan and Paris as the first Nigerian male model to do so. That did not only end successfully, but it paved the way for the 19-year-old model to the catwalk for high street fashion labels like Ermenegildo Zegna and Missoni in Milan as well as Hermés, Balmain, Kenzo, Haider Ackermann and Ami in Paris.
Here at Fashion Police Nigeria, we’re big fans of success, and we’re optimistic about the future of Victor Ndigwe in the fashion industry.
