Following the massive success of her past COLL 1 collections, Nigerian designer, Lisa Folawiyo delivered a lineup of fresh and sophisticated looks for COLL 1 Spring/Summer 2022 two days ago. The show took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites’ Art Twenty One, a venue solely dedicated to contemporary art and design in Lagos state.
As always, Folawiyo took a vibrant turn this season, influenced by her brand DNA that has a knack for modernizing Ankara and Adire fabrics. The designer brought in plenty of opulent details and modern spins on her vintage designs — dresses get updated with high-neck, shimmering embellishments, cut-outs, dramatic fringes, and contrasting colors.
Models stomped down the runway, many of them equipped with box handbags, oversized but eye-catching earrings that swing back and forth, and vintage African hairstyles. At the end of the show, Lisa Folawiyo made an entrance into the room with a model by her side, wearing her new collection with towering, yellow platform heels as she walked in front of the audience while smiling and waving at them.
