Gucci’s Cruise 2025 show in London last night (May 13) was a stunning display of fashion that paid homage to the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. Creative director Sabato de Sarno took inspiration from London’s Swinging Sixties era, infusing the collection with mod rompers, wool check coats, and whimsical daisy prints that captured the spirit of the time.
De Sarno, in a press release, expressed his gratitude to the city that has welcomed and inspired him, much like it did for Gucci’s founder Guccio Gucci when he worked at the Savoy Hotel. “I owe a lot to this city,” De Sarno said. “It has welcomed and listened to me. The same is true for Gucci, whose founder [Guccio Gucci] was inspired by his experience there.”
The collection featured relaxed jeans paired with the Blondie bag and tan suede Horsebit ballet flats, setting the tone for a lineup that showcased pastel chiffon pussy-bow blouses and hints of pearls.
The runway was a celebration of craftsmanship, with geometric beaded prints, 3-D daisies, and more captivating the audience. Ancora red and patent leather, De Sarno’s signature colors, made appearances alongside pastel hues, tan suede, denim, and crisp white blouses. The collection captured the essence of British icon Jane Birkin, with undone hair, big sunglasses, and oversized bags completing the looks.
Front-row attendees, including Dua Lipa, Alexa Chung, and Kate Moss, witnessed a showcase of Gucci’s evolution and its continued ability to reinvent classic styles with a modern twist. The merging of traditional elements with contemporary trends made for a captivating show that left a lasting impression on fashion lovers.
