South African Designer, Gert-Johan Coetzee has debuted his spring/summer 2025 collection in London Fashion Week.
In a show that took place on September 15 at the Covent Garden, an entertainment hub in London’s West End, Gert-Johan collaborated with Vanity Hub Africa and the British Fashion Council to showcase his latest collection inspired by the rich culture of South Africa.
“The future of fashion merges tradition with innovation,” the namesake brand said in a statement. “Gert-Johan Coetzee’s latest collection is not just about style—it’s about telling the world that South Africa’s voice is powerful, its culture rich, and its future bright.”
As for the collection, it’s clear that Africa is known for its rich culture and colorful fashion statements, and the Johannesburg-based designer leveraged his craft with the use of vibrant prints, resulting in covet-worthy wardrobe staples for his spring/summer 2025 collection.
Ankara dresses with sexy cuts and silhouettes, including pleated and fringe skirts, pantsuits, wrap dresses, cargo pants, and hoodie dresses with corsets are highlights of the collection. In true Gert-Johan Coetzee signature, there were also no missing of lavishly embellished pieces with cowrie shells.
The Spring/Summer 2025 London Fashion Week show marks the first time Gert-Johan Coetzee is showcasing his collection in the fashion capital, an opportunity he described as “dreams become reality.”
“#AFRICANEXCELLENCE: Step into the world of Gert-Johan Coetzee, where fashion meets artistry and dreams become reality,” the designer wrote on social media when he announced the exciting news.
“In just under 2 weeks, on September 15th, African Excellence is set to captivate the world on the global stage of the official London Fashion Week at the Vanity Hub African Runway catwalk, in collaboration with the prestigious London Fashion Week itself.”
