When Vogue’s magazine March issue featured seven models (Adwoa Aboah, Liu Wen, Ashley Graham, Vittoria Ceretti, Imaan Hammam, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner) of different sizes and colors, it was a way of solving the diversity gap in the fashion industry, but Elle is taking a different route, celebrating the models that have something in common in its May issue. The magazine invited six runway queens including Bella Hadid, Maria Borges, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Candice Huffine, and Hailey Baldwin to light up their pages. As the fashion media house clearly stated, these women have “plenty in common: good genes, professional discipline, and the kind of star power and charisma that jump through the lens and stop fashion lovers in their tracks.”
As the stunning models graces the cover, Maria Borges made an inspiring statement in her interview that you might need to take note. “The fashion industry is here for everyone, [regardless] of color or race. When I was growing up, I never saw someone like me, and now the other girls can see someone like them. It’s all about inspiration,” she said.
