As the fight against racism and injustice continues, Puma has tapped the Jamaican Canadian model, Winnie Harlow as its newest global brand ambassador. The runway darling and Victoria’s Secret model made the announcement on social media last night explaining the scope of her exciting new gig.
“I am excited to finally announce that I’m the newest @Puma global ambassador!!!” the model said in a statement. “Situations over the past few weeks have highlighted the injustice, inequality, and police brutality faced by black people both in America and around the world so it was really important for me to partner with a brand that gives me the opportunity to champion people and organizations working to make meaningful change.”
In honor of those who were victims of injustice, for instance, Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old Florida African-American boy, who was fatally shot by George Zimmerman in 2012, Winnie will be working alongside PUMA and the Trayvon Martin Foundation to raise more awareness as well as making ‘meaningful change.’
“I have always been inspired by the amazing @sybrinafulton and my first act alongside @puma will be to work closely with @thetrayvonmartinfoundation where we are making a product donation for their summer STEM camp,” she continued to explain.
“In times like these, it’s important to remember grassroots organizations that are working to create change at the local level and I am excited to begin this journey with my @puma family.
We’ve been working on several projects over the last few months, that I’m excited for you all to see in the coming weeks. 💙💙💙👟👟👟.”
In the campaign image, the Canadian beauty strike a fiery pose wearing a pair of sneakers from the brand, which she teamed with a matching tank top and gym shorts.
Puma also confirmed the news with the model’s picture shared on its official Instagram account.
