Style Magnate — An All-New Fashion and Design Competition Is Coming To Your Screens

Showmax has unveiled an exciting addition to the realm of reality television with the release of the trailer for “Style Magnate,” a groundbreaking Nigerian Original series set to debut on Friday, 4 October 2024. This fashion and design competition promises to bring a fresh perspective to the genre and is set to air new episodes every Friday, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

“Style Magnate” brings together 20 exceptionally talented up-and-coming fashion designers who have been meticulously selected through a rigorous audition process. These emerging visionaries will compete for a staggering 100 million Naira worth of prizes, including a 10 million Naira cash prize, a three-month internship, a stylish one-bedroom loft apartment, and the illustrious title of “The Style Magnate.”

This competition isn’t just about glamour; it’s about transforming dreams into reality. Contestants will have the unique opportunity to launch their careers and potentially design for the stars, making this not just a contest, but a life-changing experience for the lucky winner.

Each hopeful designer will face demanding challenges over the course of a month, testing their creativity, technical skills, and resilience. From sketching and designing to sewing under intense pressure, the participants will push their limits to create stunning and innovative fashion pieces. With the clock ticking, the tension will undoubtedly rise as contestants strive to produce show-stopping designs.

Throughout the series, the designers will also receive guidance from expert mentors and interact with prominent figures in the fashion industry, including major celebrities who will be looking for unique outfits. This intimate interaction will not only elevate the competition but also provide invaluable insight that could help shape the contestants’ careers.

At the helm of this thrilling series is renowned Nigerian fashion designer and icon Mai Atafo. His illustrious career, marked by award-winning designs and deep expertise, makes him the perfect Maestro for the show. Atafo’s vision and knowledge of the fashion landscape will be instrumental in guiding and challenging the contestants as they strive to showcase their skills and creativity.

In addition to mentoring the participants, Atafo will also play a crucial role in evaluating their designs, adding credibility and authority to the judging process. His presence alone promises to elevate the level of competition and inspire young designers to embrace their unique styles. He will be joined by the show host Joseph Benjamin, alongside Yolanda Okereke, a renowned stylist and costume designer for film and television, who will serve as the Fashion Principal.

“Style Magnate was born out of a desire to showcase the raw talent and limitless creativity we have in Africa,” Abisola Omolade, the show’s executive producer, said in a statement.

“The idea was to create not just a competition, but a platform where designers can learn, grow, and thrive in an industry that’s constantly evolving. Putting this show together has been a rewarding experience – it’s been amazing to watch these designers push boundaries, challenge themselves, and bring their unique perspectives to life. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait for viewers to witness the journey and the transformations that happen along the way.”
