Model Adut Akech, one of the favorite fashion faces of the industry, is gracing the Vogue Australia April 2023 issue with her brother.
The 23-year-old, South Sudanese-Australian model, is no new face in the fashion industry, having graced the runway for major fashion labels and fronted countless magazine cover. But she’s not alone on the latest Vogue Australia cover, as the model is introducing her younger sibling, Bior Akech, who is also a fashion model, to the world.
A post on Adut’s Instagram account announced the special feature with her brother and both are dressed in prestigious fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen, Emporio Armani, Simone Rocha, Loewe, Tiffany & Co, and more for the stunning magazine shoot by Josh Olins
“I can finally share this beautiful moment 🥺,” the model captioned on Instagram while sharing the cover with fans. “@vogueaustralia covers with my baby brother @biorakechh For April 2023 issue 😍.”
The photoshoot marks a special moment for both Adut and her brother, as the two siblings who were once refugees made their way to the front page of Vogue magazine. To acknowledge the unquantifiable success, the model added in the caption: “Mama look at your babies, I hope you’re real proud of us! 😭💖.”
On a broader note, the inclusion of Adut’s brother in the Vogue Australia April 2023 issue speaks volumes not only in regards to the African-Australian and South Sudan communities being represented in the popular media but also young people of color from foreign backgrounds having an opportunity to break through and mainstream into the Western fashion industry.
Adut Akech and her brother will no doubt inspire other upcoming models to take risks and pursue their dreams, paving the way for a more inclusive society.
