Brace Up, The 2021 Met Gala Is Happening With A Confirmed Date

It’s confirmed: the 2021 Met Gala is officially going to take place this year.

It’s been over 12 months since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the peak, forcing major red carpet events to cancel or reschedule in other to curb the spread of the novel disease. One of such events is the Met Gala.

Every year, Met Gala (also known as the Met Ball) usually attracts a huge number of celebrities for the annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City but it was canceled in May last year due to the pandemic.

“The Met has endured much in its 150 years and today continues as a beacon of hope for the future. This museum is also a profound reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the power of art to offer comfort, inspiration, and community. As we endure these challenging and uncertain times, we are encouraged by looking forward to the day when we can once again welcome all to enjoy the Met’s collection and exhibitions,” Daniel H. Weiss, president of the museum said in a statement last year.

However, the event which often comes with the most exciting celebrity-fashion moments is returning back this year but there are a few changes to align with the present state of the pandemic. Usually taking place on the first Monday of May, this year the annual event is scheduled for Monday 13 September, as per the press release from the Met on Instagram. The museum also announced that the 2022 Met Gala will be scheduled for 2 May as both events will be held to coincide with the openings of a two-part exhibition that celebrates American fashion.
