Jeremy Scott Steps Down As Moschino Designer After A Decade

Fashion designer Jeremy Scott is exiting Moschino after a decade with the Italian luxury fashion house.

Scott’s departure was announced yesterday (Monday, March 20) that he’s leaving his position as creative director at Moschino, and it is not yet clear who will replace him at the brand.

“AFTER 10 YEARS I AM ANNOUNCING TODAY THAT I WILL BE LEAVING MOSCHINO,” Scott wrote on his Instagram. “IVE HAD A BLAST CREATING DESIGNS THAT WILL LIVE ON FOREVER. I AM GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE LOVE AND SUPPORT IVE RECEIVED OVER THIS PAST DECADE. AS I CLOSE THIS CHAPTER I AM FILLED WITH EXCITEMENT & ANTICIPATION AND CANT WAIT TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL WHAT I HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU NEXT !”

Following his announcement, the brand also released a statement that described Scott as a “creative force” that raised the bar for the Italian label.

“I am fortunate to have had the opportunity of working with the creative force that is Jeremy Scott,” wrote Massimo Ferretti, chairman of Aeffe S.p.A, which owns Moschino. “I would like to thank him for his 10 years of commitment to Franco Moschino’s legacy house and for ushering in a distinct and joyful vision that will forever be a part of Moschino history.”

Scott, 47, joined Moschino in 2013, succeeding longtime creative director, Rossella Jardini, who took over from her mentor, Franco Moschino. The American fashion designer is best known for his exuberant and eccentric designs, and often controversial designs which have included McDonald’s-themed collections and Barbie-inspired looks.

His first collection for the brand was met with mixed reviews, but he quickly found his footing and became one of the most talked-about designers in the industry.

Scott’s designs often made headlines for their out-of-the-box creativity, and he was not afraid to push boundaries. He was known for his use of bright colors, bold prints, and often irreverent designs that could be both commercial and campy.

Moschino under Scott’s tenure was a departure from the staid and serious designs of the past, and he helped to make the brand relevant to a new generation of fashion fans. Scott’s designs will however be missed, but for sure he has many more exciting projects up his sleeve.
