Yemi Alade Serves A Major Ankara Style Inspo In A Live Performance Of ‘Poverty’

Yemi Alade performed a rousing rendition of her song “Poverty” from the Woman of Steel album in a live session a few days ago and it was nothing short of incredible. From her usual electric burst of energy to the empowering lyrics, Yemi Alade delivered and left fans (including us) wanting more. But of course, it was her outfit that really captured our collective gaze.

She’s once dubbed herself ‘Mama Africa’ and when it comes to mixing and matching prints she’s probably the Africa”s most fashion-forward stars, so we weren’t surprised to see the singer rocking a cool Ankara dress. Firstly, she carries Africa in her heart and secondly, the rendition was everything that fans of the could’ve hoped for.

Alade wore a ladylike African prints dress for the performance, featuring a ruffled asymmetric hemline, modest neckline, and short tiered sleeves. Known for her penchant for eccentric hairstyle, the singer shows that there are many styling options for African hair and twisted her brown tresses into a top knot. She also wore coveted, purple drop earrings that color-coordinated with her outfit, oozing African chic.

The audio version of the song was released in August last year and she’s now blessed fans with the live version. Enjoy the video above!
