Yemi Alade brought her bold style to the stage at this year’s launch of the London YAM Carnival on Saturday night.
The show was originally supposed to have taken place in 2020 as a weekend celebration of the African diaspora but was canceled due to the pandemic. But earlier this year, Afro Nation, the event organizers confirmed the show to be held as a one-day event on August 28.
However, the incredible Mama Africa singer returned to the stage over the weekend for a blockbuster performance and doing what she’s best known for.
Doing it up in very Yemi Alade style, the singer debuted a bold performance ensemble. She arrived at the stage in a black bodysuit heavily embroidered with beads and stones that sparkled as she moved. The glamorous piece was completed with just a pair of black booties and sparkling star-shaped earrings. Her beauty game was quite on-point as the 32-year star wore a full face made with red lips, a look she aptly coordinated with her braided updo.
YAM Carnival is a brand new Afrobeat music festival that celebrates the African diaspora, including the Caribbean and Latin American culture, with music and food from across the world. Alade was joined on stage by a lineup of other Afrobeat singers, reggaeton, R&B, hip hop, and Afro-swing singers.
These include Davido, Kehlani, NSG, Koffee, Patoranking, Ari Lennox, Pa Salieu, Darkoo, Nao, Princess Nokia, Ms Banks, IAMDDB, Midas The Jagaban, Femi Kuti, Honey Dijon, and a host of others.
