Yemi Alade has just released a new music video for her Shekere song and in true Mama African style, she decided to drape herself in African prints. Shot in New York, the video features Grammy-award Beninese singer and songwriter, Angelique Kidjo, who injected her unique vibes into the music.
Of all the striking costumes in the music, nothing caught our attention quite like her voluminous Ankara dress. Of course, we will never get tired of it. Season after season, there’s nothing we love more than African prints, so naturally, we’ve fallen head over heels in love with the dress that Yemi Alade is wearing here.
According to the singer, the dress is made up of 24 yards of wax fabric and it’s evident in the video. Designed by a South African brand, Lavie by CK, the jaw-dropping dress features billowing shoulders and plunging neckline, with the length so long that it covers the entire square meters of the room. Yemi added the matching headwrap atop her head while completing the look with a cache of bangles and dark brown lips.
“It’s Way Past 12midnight!🌌The Director Is Screaming Directions At me!🌡I’m tired!🌚I’m pushing!🌤,” Yemi shared the video of her dress. “And I’m draped In 24 YARDS OF ANKARA WAX AND ACCESSORIES.”
While this is an outfit well-suited for such a star, the video is another talking point. Watch the full length below!
