It pretty much looks like someone is firmly securing her position as one of the most rapidly rising and fashionable figures on our radar, and we couldn’t be prouder. Wondering who it is? It’s none other than Chioma Ikokwu from The Real Housewives of Lagos.

Popularly known as Chioma GoodHair, she isn’t just a random celebrity caught in the frenzy; Chioma has transformed into the head-turning star of reality TV. Her prominence is not only attributed to her remarkable fashion sense but also to her ability to bring unfiltered reality to the show. It’s like saying, “The real Chioma is here— what’s our next move?”

Despite being the only unmarried member of the cast on “The Real Housewives of Lagos,” Chioma Ikokwu thrives on standing out. Her consistent appearances on The Real Housewives Of Lagos showcase not only her fashion-forward choices but also an array of stunning hairstyles throughout the debut season’s first four episodes. In fact, viewers finally got a glimpse of her high-end designer boutique-like closet during the second episode of season two.

While Chioma Ikokwu’s style has undeniably been commanding attention since The Real Housewives of Lagos premiered on Showmax in April 2022, it’s worth noting that she was already renowned for her classy and exquisite fashion sense before the show.

Some may even describe her style as extravagant, affirming her steady ascent as a bona fide fashion star. So here at Fashion Police NG, we are all about getting to know a little more about this fashionista because, let’s face it, the girl consistently nails it!

Chioma is the Face Behind Goodhair

Apart from being a lawyer, Chioma co-owns Good Hair and the restaurant/lounge Brass and Copper, a venture she shares with her best friend, Kika Osunde. The 34-year-old serial entrepreneur is also deeply involved in philanthropy through the Goodway Foundation, a charity focusing on women and children.

Excellence is a constant companion to Chioma Ikokwu, evidenced by her significant achievements such as the Beauty Entrepreneur of the Year award, the Most Enterprising Female in Nigeria award, and the Best Hair Brand award in both 2018 and 2019. Beyond her professional success, she is widely acknowledged for her influence, having gained popularity across social media for her fashionable lifestyle.

She Runs The Good Way Foundation

Chioma Ikokwu established the Goodway Foundation with a primary mission of eliminating poverty and enhancing healthcare, education, and living standards for disadvantaged individuals in Africa. The organization is dedicated to researching and advocating for the destigmatization of individuals impacted by sickle cell disease.

Also, Ikokwu actively participated in a round table conference at the United Nations Headquarters, focusing on raising awareness and improving the management of sickle cell disease. In recognition of her humanitarian efforts, she received an award from the African Sickle Cell Foundation in New York.

Initially, She Didn’t Want To Join The RHOLagos

Yes, you heard that right. Chioma Goodhair initially declined the RHOLagos and for good reasons too. It’s not uncommon for individuals to weigh the impact on their personal lives, especially when it comes to reality TV shows that might expose aspects of their private lives.

Speaking to Chude Jideonwo, Chioma narrated how she was not thrilled to join the Real Housewives show due to the drama surrounding the reality TV show.

“When The Real Housewives of Lagos first approached me,” the RHOLagos star said, adding that she ‘was like ‘of course not’. “Why would I use my hand to put myself on a pedestal like that? I didn’t want to be a part of it initially. They also didn’t tell me who else was going to be a part of the show so I wasn’t interested.”

Me, I’m very big on family so my family is everything to me. I’m not married yet, I don’t have kids so it’s my parents and my siblings at this point. So I said [to the producers], speak to my family, see what they think, if they agree, then I’ll do it. So the producers spoke to my family and somehow managed to convince them that it would be a good idea for me to get on the show. So I said, let me give it a shot, it can’t kill me”.

Chioma Is Not A Housewife In The Literal Sense

As you already know, Chioma Good Hair wears many hats, but being a literal housewife is not one of them. In a past interview with Showmax, she revealed that she rejects the idea of being labeled a housewife, viewing it as more than the cliché combination of the words “house” and “wife.”

According to the RHOLagos star, “So, because I’m not a housewife, it can’t just be about being a housewife. Heck, hardly any of these women are literal ‘housewives.’ I honestly think being a Real Housewife of Lagos means being a boss-babe, a go-getter, and making that paper, and that’s definitely my thing.”

Discussing what she is unequivocally certain about in the same interview, the reality TV star emphasized her hundred percent commitment to financial success. In her own words, she said, “I’m an Igbo girl from Oba, Anambra; we don’t play. Making money is in our DNA, so that’s one thing. I don’t play with work. I’m always looking for different opportunities to grow and advance.”

The subject of being a wife has also been a major point of interest for Chioma’s fans and family. She shared that during filming, her family joined the set and bombarded her with deep questions like, “So when are you getting married? Who’s the man? How many are there?” She jokingly added, saying: “They finished me oh. Lol. That has to be my highlight honestly. My family has zero chill.”

Chioma’s Fashion Sense Is Quite A Refreshing Spectacle

During a recent conversation with OkayAfrica, she expressed how she commands attention wherever she steps her foot, sartorially.

“I can’t recall a time when I entered a room and heads didn’t turn.” This is undoubtedly accurate, as the GoodHair founder rarely settles for anything less than polished and carefully selected pieces of fashion. Her intentional approach and meticulous attention to detail are evident in all her outfits, whether she’s attending an interview, striking a random pose on Instagram, or filming with her fellow Housewives of Lagos on the show.

Chioma also openly admitted to OkayAfrica that even her own head must turn when she passes by a mirror. If it doesn’t, it indicates that the outfit isn’t up to standard, and she won’t be making a public appearance in it. This characteristic gives her a substantial edge — an unmistakable confidence. And that’s exactly why it’s no surprise that she always appears chin-up whenever she speaks, especially when addressing facts on The Real Housewives of Lagos show.

Ahead of the show’s debut in April 2022, Chioma had highlighted that The Real Housewives of Lagos would be genuinely captivating, a prediction that has undoubtedly come to pass. The series showcases characters that resonate with nearly every individual in Nigeria and beyond, inviting viewers to form their own opinions on who is commendable and who is not.

Noteworthy are the celebrity-like moments, especially in the world of fashion, where Chioma herself emerges as a central figure. The vibes, drama, cultural elements, and everything in between contribute to the show’s distinct essence, shaping it into what it has become and continues to be.
