Serena Williams is always at the top of her game sport-wise but it was her sartorial skills that the tennis champion was showing off last night when she stepped out to the 2023 NAACP Image Awards in Califonia.
Taking place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Williams, with the help of her stylist Kesha McLeod chose a custom velvet gown for the occasion created by Brandon Blackwood. The black long-sleeve and floor-grazing number came complete with a deep V-neckline, a wrapped asymmetric waistline, and a thigh-high slit in which the tennis legend struck a pose to evoke some sexiness.
Photo: Gilbert Flores/Getty Images The look was completed with a pair of coordinating black jewel-adorned pumps, a thin layered necklace, and statement pendant earrings while adorning her fingers with an array of diamond jewelry. The mom-of-one sported her hair in a curly blowout with brilliant pink lips as the glamorous finishing touches.

Speaking about her look, the fashion brand said that the star deserves something that compliments her professional status as the “world’s greatest. “We really wanted Serena to feel sexy, confident, and just like powerful,” Blackwood said in an interview with Haper’s Bazaar. “She’s the world’s greatest athlete and she deserves a dress that compliments that. She’s a powerhouse in herself and we just wanted to do something that was equally powerful.”
Meanwhile, Serena Willaims received the NAACP’s Jackie Robinson Sports Award for her achievements in sports, business, and philanthropy.
