For ThisDay Style’s latest issue, the magazine invited a handful of Nigerian actresses that it feels are the new generation of Nollywood. Sharon Ooja, Lillian Onyinye Afegbai, Nancy Isime, Lisa Omorodion, Erica Nlededim, Maryam Ado Muhammad-Booth, Ini Dima-Okojie, Bimbo Ademoye, Beverly Osu, and Linda Osifo who made the list all slipped into their gorgeous dresses and pantsuits for the cover spread. They are celebrating their reign in the Nigerian movie industry and how far they’ve come in an industry where big names like Liz Benson, Omotola Jalade, Stephanie Linus Okereke, Rita Dominic, Ini Edo, Chika Ike, and a bunch of others were once ruling the roost.
As per the magazine, these women are not just the future of Nollywood but “have used fashion as a tool to express themselves, their brands, personalities and how limitless their dreams and goals truly are.”
While it’s important to note that the ten women on the cover have been in the industry for quite some years, many of whom are new, they are all young, brilliant, and talented, with one goal to place Nollywood in the right trajectory.
“One thing that is important in every industry is Structure. While there is some form of a structure at the moment, I think it can be built upon and strengthened, especially financially. Nollywood actors deserve the world for not only are they constantly entertaining millions of people around the world, but they are also putting Nigeria on the world map,” Nancy Isime said when asked what Nollywood is lacking and how best can the issue be tackled.
Well, we only hope for their best. You can scoot over to ThisDay Style read their interesting interview.
