Nancy Isime Makes Ankara Dress Feel Fun And Edgy

If you think Ankara is old-fashioned and only worn by the older generation, you may want to think again.

In recent times, Nigeria has seen a surge in demand for Ankara—once considered a local attire—and it is quickly becoming a fashion ideal.

The versatility of Ankara fabrics is such that it can be worn on any and every occasion, especially because there are now a myriad of styles from which people can choose. Nancy Isime, the Nigerian actress extraordinaire and media personality, has demonstrated to fashion enthusiasts and fashionistas that the Ankara fabric can serve any function.

The media personality wore a vibrant Ankara print outfit to host the launch of a Nigerian food brand, The EverHale Company alongside Frank Edoho of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show.

What jumps out at you upon first glance at Isime’s look is the uniqueness of the Ankara style as well as the colour. The look features a puffed shoulder, which speaks volumes about the pride of wearing an indigenous print. Perhaps Nancy sends a powerful message to all that there is pride in being African, in embracing Africanness.

The top is made to perfectly fit the media personality’s body, but with bubbles at the hem, which also complement the puffy shoulders. The skirt is short-hemmed and wave-like, and similar to the top, it is also gathered into a bubble. The overall outlook of Isime’s outfit, with this mix and match of styles, lends to its playful and fun oeuvre.

But that’s not all to know about Isime’s appearance. Her accessories were carefully curated to match the playful vibe of her outfit. The choice of gold earrings, bracelets, and rings is somewhat subtle: they blend perfectly with her skin, with green stones on her bracelet and some rings which match the colour of her Ankara. Her gold statement earrings and multiple ear piercings lend a bolder look to her appearance.

Nancy Isime’s face is not left out. She rocks black short locs that make a statement about her African roots, matching the indigenousness of her outfit. Her long eyelashes, her double shades (bright and dark) of lipstick, her well-carved-out eyebrows, matching gold glittery eyeshadow, and her face beat amplify this Afro-centric look.

And not to forget how the actress turned heads a week ago at the Radio Voice premiere on May 23rd, 2025, wearing a black and gold gown by Nigerian designer Oobiuku. With her high bun, opera gloves, and minimalist glam, Isime didn’t just show up; she arrived. As always, she reminded us why she’s one of the most watched stars on and off the screen.
