Think about it: not every celebrity who makes a red carpet debut finds themselves on the front pages of major fashion magazines but Chika Ike was one of the highlights of the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
Right from the opening ceremony to the end of the international film festival, the Nollywood actress descended the French Riviera in showstopping looks, giving her Hollywood counterparts a run for their money. From her shimmering, breathtaking green gown to her royal blue confection with dramatic floral details, the 37-year-old Cannes debut was truly one for the books, thanks to Jeremiah Ogbodo (a.k.a Swank Jerry), her incredible stylist behind the looks.
In an Instagram post shared by the actress yesterday, Ike gave fans the BTS of her Cannes journey — from having her face glammed up by the makeup artists to styling her dress and making the ultimate entrance. “As I come to the end of my Cannes film festival 2023 journey,” the actress captioned the video clip in a lengthy post while expressing her gratitude to fans. “Thanks to all the amazing super talented creative team. You all are awesome and I’m elated that you all brought this to life. As they say, teamwork makes the dream work,” she added.

Describing her experience as “mind-blowing, the Moment of Madness actress also sent a special shout-out to Swanky Jerry, and of course, to the designer of Kud Collections, who’s the creative director behind her beautiful ensembles.
A special shout out to @swankyjerry,” Ike acknowledged. “The execution was flawless and I’m so pleased with every outfit, it was out of this world fabulous.
She continued: “Not only was it a hit back to back, but I was also on the best-dressed list of major international media houses across the board amongst thousands of people who walked the Cannes film festival opening ceremony red carpet, and as it’s my first and being the first to walk the red carpet in 76 years, it was mind-blowing.”
Chike Ike’s career has been soaring high and her Cannes debut makes the Nollywood star the first Nigerian actress to have ever graced the annual Cannes Film Festival, a history that’s worthy to note.
