When it comes to public service, Beyonce isn’t the one to be left out. She has joined the numerous celebrity donors to raise funds for the COVID-19 relief with a donation of $6 million. The singer announced through her charitable initiative, BeyGOOD, that she’s partnering with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s #Startsmall, to support medical and mental health organizations, as well as humanitarian aid and disaster relief organizations during the coronavirus pandemic.
The organizations in question include United Medical Center, Bread of Life, Matthew 25, and 25 others, to help address the needs, especially in the most vulnerable areas. “Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD is supporting organizations that are on the ground 24/7, including United Medical Center, Bread of Life, Matthew 25 and others, to address these dire needs in some of the hardest-hit areas, providing basic necessities, including food, water, cleaning supplies, medicines, face masks, and personal hygiene items. Void of these basic necessities, mental burdens are also accelerated,” a statement from Queen Bey’s website.

Speaking about the COVID-19 situation, Bey’s representatives cited how much attention is needed in some communities, especially the ones that have been hit hard by the virus. “In our major cities, African-Americans comprise a disproportionate number of workers in these indispensable occupations, and they will need mental health support and personal wellness care, including testing and medical services, food supplies and food deliveries, both during and after the crisis,” read a statement released by Beyoncé’s representatives.
Queen Bey, however, has also added her voice in a new video released on her social media. The Grammy Award winner sends a heartfelt message across to healthcare workers, delivery workers, sanitation employees, and the entire African-American community.
She was also part of the Disney Family Singalong and Global Citizen’s Together at Home concert—an event that connected celebrities and families over the weekend.
