We all had our fair share of bad beauty moments. Think of those beginner days of using mascara or the days of seeing your foundation gather into dry patches. Although beauty mistakes cannot entirely be avoided, we can at least prevent a dull and sleepy makeup look. The real reason why your skin is looking dull even after you do everything right, including proper exercising, healthy eating, and getting enough sleep is using the right beauty products. For a simple way to help wake up a tired face, Chanel beauty ambassador and make-up artist, Kay Montano, shared her tips while speaking with Red in a recent interview.
“Tread carefully with bronzer,” Montano advised. “Most women think it will add warmth to a fatigued complexion; the opposite is true.”
“Matte, muddy colours on cheeks can actually emphasize tiredness-related sallowness. It looks more natural to add luminosity with a dewy highlighter, such as Chanel’s Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in Transparent. I rub a little on my fingers, then lightly pat it up and over cheekbones.”

She also highlighted the importance of using a blusher to awaken a fatigued complexion. “Pink creates the impression of youth and vitality. For an even application, I use a small, round blusher brush to buff a splash of colour on to the apples of the cheeks. It’s such a simple step to your make-up routine, but it will add instant freshness to your complexion.”
As for eyeshadow, the London-based makeup artist advised women to avoid using thick dark eyeliner as it can your eyes to look tired.
“It’s the details that make a difference. Thick dark eyeliner drawn underneath the eye makes you look more tired, while soft, satin-textured eyeshadow will open up the eye area. Even brushing eyebrow hairs up and using eyelash curlers before you apply mascara will help you feel more fresh-faced than you might be feeling.”
