Let’s be honest, there’s one hairstyle a lot us of hasn’t experimented ever since we set out foots onto this plant, and Rihanna’s latest ‘do fits into that category. Of course she’s a pro when it comes to pulling off anything and she knows how to give a throwback better than anyone. When the singer debuted her new dreadlocks with the caption “buffalo soldier,” on Monday, it was obvious she was honoring the late Bob Marley. The hitmaker was spotted while out for a dinner in NYC, rocking her long dreads, a vintage off-the-shoulder Tupac Shakur top teamed with a skintight black leather pants, which made an epic throwback to the lost legends. She kept her accessories to a minimum finishing her look with a pair of black sneakers and green leather handbag.
While we may be excited and feel like replicating RiRi’s locs, it is worthy to note that back in September 2016, a U.S Court of Appeals dismissed a lawsuit, solidifying that it’s legal for employers to discriminate against people with dreadlocks. According to the court, dreads “tends to get messy,” and employees must be groomed in such a way that “projects a professional and businesslike image.” Which means, if you’re obsessed with the hairstyle and currently living in U.S, you may need a rethink before switching up.
