Adut Akech has a new hairstyle.
The model shared her new bob hairstyle in an Instagram post, where she also opened up about her decision for the major hair transformation. The photos show the South Sudanese-Australian model looking a bit different as she shows off her newly natural ‘do.
Akech wears a ruched, gathered, beige bra top with the matching sweatpants in the photos, accessorized with silver earrings adorning her multiple ear-piercing, and neutral makeup.
The 23-year-old runway darling opened up about her semi-big chop in the caption, sharing how she spent three years on the natural hair journey after deciding to completely shave off her hair due to damage. “So I’ve officially joined the bob girlies 😍.” she wrote.

“I decided to do a healthy semi big chop to continue my natural hair growth journey! Spent the last 3 years of growing my hair out and getting it back to a natural healthy state. From completely shaving my head bald from how damaged it was due to some past lack of care for black girls hair within our industry.”
The model, however, revealed that to achieve success with her now-healthy hair growth, she remained “gentle and patient,” and she’s now loving the outcome.
“I’ve been gentle and patient with my hair,” the newest brand ambassador and face of Valentino Beauty said, adding that she has “stood firm on how I want my hair treated and handled by others hence the reason it’s come this far. Love the versatility my hair has now, and it’s not just boxed in to one certain look. Black girl hair is truly magical and fascinating 🙌🏾🤎🤎🤎.”
This comes on the heels of the busy Spring/Summer 2024 Fashion Month after she graced numerous catwalks, including the Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Area, and Versace shows.

The new hairstyle is, however, a major departure from her long and straight hair bundles and her signature short ‘do.
