Right from the onset, Africa Fashion Week Nigeria is known for providing the platform for young Nigerian/African designers to showcase their craftsmanships and the this year’s edition is no exception. The 2-day event which took place over the weekend at the iconic National Theatre Iganmu Lagos brought a bevy of African fashion aficionados including Nollywood actress, Chika Ike, who sauntered into the building in a gorgeous blue ensemble. “The decision to host this year’s fashion week at this iconic location is a conscious effort to take our guest on a nostalgic journey of the best of the past and vibrant pulse of the future by using this venue as a point of reference,” said the event organizer in a statement.
During the show, more than 20 designers showcased their collections and we have to admit there was no disappointment. Ankara dresses were given fresh new updates and Ankara bags as well were reimagined for something extra-coveted. It’s a show you’d have loved to be present but thanks to AFWN for the images, we’ve got you covered. Here, the best looks from the Day 1 of the show.
