Banke Kuku Takes a Dive into Sustainable Fashion in an Eco-Friendly Collection
Sustainable fashion has emerged as a pivotal concern within the fashion industry, as many brands recognize the urgent need to protect our environment. With pollution levels rising and climate change impacting our planet, the call for eco-friendly practices in fashion has become paramount.
In this context, the Nigerian fashion label Banke Kuku is leading the charge, proving that sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into striking design.
On October 18, in the vibrant city of Lagos, Banke Kuku unveiled its latest collection, a bold statement that resonates with the brand’s commitment to sustainability. The collection, entitled “OCEANS,” draws inspiration from the magnificence of the sea.
Designer Banke Lawson, who has always found solace and creativity in the ocean’s vastness said “The collection is more than just fashion, it’s a narrative of how nature and creativity intertwined.”
She describes the ocean as a powerful muse, inspiring her designs with its vastness and ever-changing nature. “In this collection, we aim to convey a narrative where nature intersects with creativity,” Banke stated, articulating her vision for the line. “Each piece tells a story—a story of waves, the tides, and the beauty that lies beneath the surface.”
The Banke Kuku Spring/Summer 2025 collection showcases a stunning array of pieces that pay homage to the house’s aesthetic, particularly focusing on beautifully crafted kaftans.
It also features dresses and swimsuits characterized by flattering silhouettes that celebrate the allure of ocean-inspired prints. Each design not only captivates with its aesthetic appeal but also serves a larger purpose—promoting the fight for cleaner and healthier oceans.
