Gabrielle Union Twins with Her Daughter Kaavia in Animal Print Dress

Gabrielle Union and daughter Kaavia are giving a style update as the true mother-daughter duo.

On February 6, 2026, the actress and her seven-year-old daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade, attended the Los Angeles premiere of the animated sports comedy “GOAT,” arriving in coordinating animal-print dresses, blending fierce fashion with a strong family bond.

As they held hands and posed for photos on the red carpet, their matching looks highlighted their close relationship and added a playful touch to the star-studded event.

The premiere, held just before the film’s theatrical release on February 13, 2026, celebrated “GOAT,” an animated underdog story directed by Tyree Dillihay. The movie follows Will, a small goat with big ambitions, who gets a shot at playing “roarball,” a high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by the world’s fastest and fiercest animals.

Co-produced by NBA superstar Stephen Curry through his Unanimous Media banner, the film blends humor, heart, and lessons about perseverance and self-belief.

Union voices Jett Fillmore, a tough and inspiring character, while her husband, retired NBA legend Dwyane Wade, voices Rosette. Their involvement adds a personal layer to the project, as Union has shared that she drew inspiration from real-life basketball icons, including Wade, to bring authenticity to her role.

Union wore a striking black-and-white striped animal-print dress in shades of red and tan, paired with open-toed black heels. Her long braids were styled in a chic half-up do, and she kept accessories minimal with a few bracelets on her right wrist.

Kaavia, affectionately called “Shady Baby” by fans for her expressive personality, mirrored her mother’s vibe in a dress with a similar pattern in vibrant blue and green. The young star held her mother’s hand confidently, flashing smiles that lit up the carpet.

Dwyane Wade, 44, complemented the family look in a dark green cardigan over a white shirt and light gray trousers. He joined them for group photos that included playful interactions with actual goats on the red carpet, a nod to the film’s protagonist.

This isn’t the first time Union and Kaavia have turned heads with their coordinated style. The mother-daughter pair has a history of matching outfits at events, from casual family outings to high-profile red carpets.

In past appearances, such as the 2022 premiere of “Cheaper by the Dozen,” they’ve showcased everything from polka dots to elegant gowns, always emphasizing fun and self-expression. Union, who welcomed Kaavia via surrogate in 2018 after years of fertility struggles detailed in her memoir, often speaks about the joys and challenges of motherhood.

In a recent interview, she emphasized encouraging Kaavia to embrace her individuality: “She definitely has a mind of her own and is not afraid to speak up. We tell her, ‘It’s whatever you want to do,’ as long as it’s safe and appropriate.”

The “GOAT” premiere was a veritable who’s who of entertainment and sports. Jennifer Hudson, who also voices a character in the film, arrived in high-waisted gray pants, a fitted black top, and a long gray coat, accessorized with flashy necklaces and black-heeled boots.

Ayesha Curry stunned in a rosy pink halter-styled satin dress, while her husband Stephen Curry kept it casual yet sharp in tan trousers, a dark brown leather jacket, and a white shirt.

Other notable attendees included Jenifer Lewis in a sophisticated black ensemble with white-patterned trim, MC Lyte in light blue jeans and a fuzzy brown jacket, British girl group FLO in eye-catching dresses, country star Jelly Roll (fresh off his Grammy wins) in all-black with his son Noah, “Stranger Things” actor Caleb McLaughlin in a sleek black suit, and comedian Patton Oswalt with his wife Meredith Salenger.

Even reality TV star Colton Underwood and his husband Jordan C. Brown made an appearance with their newborn son Bishop, all dressed in coordinated Nike outfits.

Beyond the fashion and festivities, Union has been vocal about the deeper messages in “GOAT.” In a CBS Mornings interview, she highlighted the film’s themes: “Anyone is capable of greatness. Anyone is capable of being the GOAT, as long as you believe in yourself.”

She discussed how the story addresses real-life issues like overcoming obstacles and teamwork, drawing parallels to her own experiences in Hollywood and Wade’s basketball career.

“I studied basketball players, including my husband, to get into the mindset,” Union revealed, noting the film’s blend of animation and inspiration makes it perfect for families.
