Ayra Starr Makes The Sheer Dress Feel So Fabulous

Ayra Starr arrived at the 2026 Grammy Awards as more than a guest.  She stepped onto the red carpet as a nominee for Best African Music Performance, a defining moment for her career and for Nigerian music on the global stage.

At 23, the Nigerian Singer stepped onto one of the world’s biggest stages and made one thing very clear: this was her moment. Surrounded by the iconic Grammys backdrop, Ayra looked calm, poised, and completely in her element. 

Her red carpet appearance reflected that confidence. Ayra wore a custom sheer black deep-V gown by Nicola Bacchilega, a choice that balanced style and boldness. The silhouette was clean and flattering, in the most controlled way. The sheer fabric flowed beautifully as she moved, with a soft trailing train behind her, giving her look a red-carpet stun that was impossible to ignore.

The superstar’s beauty look was equally intentional. Ayra opted for a sleek, slicked-back ponytail that framed her face perfectly and allowed her outfit to shine. Her makeup leaned into soft glam, with glowing skin, defined eyes, and glossy lips that caught the light every time she smiled. 

Her jewellery added the final touch. A striking diamond and ruby necklace sat elegantly at her neckline, paired with matching rings and Akano diamonds that sparkled just enough without stealing focus from her dress. Styled by Elly Karamoh and brought to life with beauty by Painted by Esther, Ayra’s entire look felt aligned deeply with who Ayra Starr is; Stunning, daring, and stylish.

Before the red carpet moment, Ayra Starr had already set the tone with a stunning peplum outfit at the  Grammys brunch and press. Her outfit by Maison Zoulias and styled by Elly Karamoh featured a strapless peplum top paired with a matching mini skirt, choosing soft gingham patterns.

The light blue and white checkered peplum top featured a structured sweetheart neckline in a contrasting nude tone, giving the look shape and intention. Ayra balanced it with a pink and white gingham mini skirt, keeping the silhouette playful but controlled. The peplum detail added volume to the waist, creating a clean line that framed her figure perfectly. 

Although the award ultimately went to South Africa’s Tyla, Ayra Starr still walked away with something equally lasting. Her 2026 Grammy nomination reinforced her place as a global artist. Representing Nigeria with pride, Ayra was easily one of the best-dressed artists of the night, reminding everyone that style, like music, is about knowing who you are and owning it fully.
