Jennifer Lopez Makes the Blazer and Skirt Look Chic on the Red Carpet

Blazers and skirts are not the outfit combo we see every day, and it was refreshing to see Jennifer Lopez giving the formal attire her personal spin.

On Wednesday night, the singer graced the red carpet at the Hollywood Reporter’s annual Women in Entertainment Gala, showcasing not just her star power but also her gorgeous style. Dressed in an earthy ensemble, Lopez captured the essence of modern sophistication with the help of her trusted stylists, Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.

For the event, J.Lo opted for a mocha-colored skirt suit from Harithand that was the epitome of chic. The outfit featured a slouchy blazer and a matching midi pencil skirt, but it was the blazer that truly stole the show. Unlike conventional blazers with sharp bottom hems, Lopez’s jacket showcased a round design, where one side looped seamlessly into the other, reminiscent of an infinity symbol. Aptly named the “Infinity set,” this piece cleverly mystified the eye, making it difficult to discern where the blazer ended and the skirt began.

The surreal blazer came equipped with functional front pockets and long peak lapels. Its slightly pointy shoulders added a touch of angularity and width to Lopez’s silhouette, enhancing her elegant form. The combination of these elements created a visually arresting look that perfectly aligned with the evening’s upscale decorum.

To complete her earthy look, Lopez paired the ensemble with camel-colored heels, harmonising beautifully with the overall palette. Her blonde locks cascaded down her shoulders in soft waves, further accentuating the natural colours of her outfit.

Adding a touch of glamour, the ‘birthday’ singer adorned herself with golden chokers and dazzling diamond huggie earrings from Hearts on Fire. A fashionable snakeskin clutch in chocolate brown from Tyler Ellis elegantly finished off her ensemble, emphasising sophisticated style while serving as a functional accessory.

Jennifer Lopez was honoured during the gala with the Equity in Entertainment award, recognising her significant contributions to the industry and her relentless efforts to break barriers as a Latina woman in Hollywood. During her acceptance speech, she reflected on her journey, inspiring others to embrace diversity and strive for equity in all aspects of entertainment.

“When we talk about equity in entertainment, I, like so many others in this room, speak from experience,” Lopez said during her speech. “In the early days of my career, I often felt like that underdog. You know, that Puerto Rican girl from the Bronx who kind of wasn’t supposed to be in the room, let alone [be in] the center of it. I was told in 100 different ways what roles people like me were expected to play, and I played some of those roles. I saw how stereotypes try to box me in before I even had the chance to show what I could really do. And then Selena came along.”

Lopez continued saying that, “I have tried to choose stories that show the fullness of who we are. Latinos, yes, but also Black and brown talent, indigenous artists, LGBTQ+ communities, immigrants, women, non-binary, people with disabilities.”

“All I have ever wanted is to help people get the visibility, resources, and respect they deserve. This award is not just a reminder of how far we’ve come, it’s a reminder of the work still ahead and it requires all of us, the storytellers, the executives, the dreamers, the disruptors, and every person in this room who is brave enough, to keep going.”
